Sony Debuts Next-Gen NFL Coach’s Headsets: Built for Clarity, Built for Game Day
Sony’s new NFL Coach’s Headsets are making their sideline debut this season, delivering cutting-edge innovations in noise cancellation, voice clarity, durability, and all-weather comfort.
Developed in under a year since Sony partnered with the NFL, the headsets blend high-end consumer tech with custom engineering — including a highly directional mic and water-resistant design. Testing spanned extreme temperatures and simulated crowd noise exceeding 100 decibels, ensuring coaches are heard loud and clear in any stadium.
Sony engineers collaborated directly with NFL operations and coaching staff to fine-tune the gear, gathering feedback on sidelines across the league. The headsets connect via Verizon’s private network and were quietly tested last season by NFL communications technicians.
Beyond performance, the sleek Sony branding is now among the most visible on-field sponsorships, joining the likes of Nike and Microsoft. While these headsets are custom-built for the NFL, Sony hinted that some of the innovations could one day reach consumers.
“Working with Sony, we’re both committed to innovation,” said NFL SVP Tracie Rodburg. “We want to make sure everybody knows we have a trusted partner on the sideline.”
