Adidas Steps Up: F50 SPARKFUSION Cleats Prioritize Women’s Performance from the Ground Up

Adidas is raising the bar for women’s sports gear with the launch of the F50 SPARKFUSION, a soccer cleat built specifically for female athletes—based on over a decade of anatomical research.

Unlike the common industry practice of simply downsizing men’s cleats, the F50 SPARKFUSION is designed from the ground up with women’s biomechanics in mind. The cleat incorporates insights from elite athletes, including Washington Spirit and USWNT star Trinity Rodman, and addresses key differences like narrower heels and higher arches.

Adidas reports that in performance tests, athletes wearing the F50 SPARKFUSION completed agility-focused drills faster than those in standard unisex cleats—a testament to the power of designing for function, not just fit.

To accompany the product release, Adidas also announced ORIGIN STORY, a podcast spotlighting the 1985 USWNT. The series, produced with Storied Sports (the team behind The 85ers), tells the groundbreaking story of a team that entered global competition with zero funding and no media coverage—laying the foundation for generations of women in sport.

This isn’t just about a cleat—it’s a commitment to rewriting the playbook for how performance gear supports women athletes.
